I have belonged to gyms in the past, but have found that I get there less than I want due to my busy schedule. Looking for a home gym, I found the Bowflex. I find it easy to use, with the ability to effectively target all major muscle groups. The Bowflex is easy to use and solidly built. The only negative I can find is that some of the set-up directions were not correct and I should have ordered upgraded weight rods, as my system has 210 pounds of resistance.

I wish I would have waited and gotten the Revolution Gym. I didn't realize how much space this really was going to take up. The constant changing of removing the seat or changing postitions of hand grips or the tension clamps between excercises gets annoying.

I use this gym 3 days on 1 day off. I do feel a slight difference so I am not entirely dissatisfied with it. I bought it for my son and he likes it. I am going to purchase more tension rods to see if that helps more with the workout feel.

Well I've been using it about 45 minutes each day for 2 weeks now, it's easy to operate, very simple to change to different workouts, so far I'm enjoying it, I hope over time I start noticing a change in my body, my only complaint is when lowering the seat bottom it's to far away from the seat back and your lower back ends up against the hard metal frame, but a small pillow cured that problem.

Comments about Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym:

During the setup you have to slide the top section into the bottom section then add the side supports. you have to line up all three and my son and I had to muscle the unit to get them lined up. Overall it took us about 4 hours to assemble. First work out was lack luster. Then I watched the video and saw that by changing the configuration I was able to have the bows bend much farther which is where you get the most benefit. The work outs in the guide didn't give me the results. I modified the gym work out I used on the bow flex making sure I was getting the full bend on the bowflex and WOW what a difference. I am very happy with my bow flex and look forward to seeing the results.

              A:

Hi Christopher! The dimensions of the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE when fully assembled (but not necessarily in use) is 4'10" L x 4'1" W x 6'11" H. The workout area required is 8' x 6'5" to accommodate the span of the power rods when flexed and any exercises that require the user to sit on the floor in front of the machine to be peformed.

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

Hi Gary! The Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE, when fully assembled, is 6'11" (83") tall. You will need extra clearance during the assembly by at minimum 12-24" because you have to lift the upper lat tower up higher than the final assembled height to get it installed. Based on this, you might want to consider placing this machine in a room with a higher ceiling.

          • Q:

I have used an older Bowflex unit for a period of time and liked it. One of my kids convinced me to give it to him. Now I am looking for another and am trying to decide between the Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym and the more expensive Revolution Home Gym. I looked over the features and couldn't readily spot if the Revolution is worth 2X the price. Besides the leg press feature, is there something regarding the Revolution that really makes it twice as good as the Xtreme 2 SE?
Asked on 7/28/2014 by Jim from Long Beach

            1 answer

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

Hi Jim! The major difference between the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE and the Bowflex Revolution is the type of resistance used and the amount of resistance available. The Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE uses the Power Rod technology which is a low-impact, progressive-style resistance and maxes out at 410lbs. The Bowflex Revolution, while still being low-impact, is a linear-style resistance using the Spyroflex technology and goes up to 300lbs of resistance (with the 80lb upgrade). When doing the leg press exercise on the Revolution it is possible to double the amount of resistance, bringing it to a total of 600lb (with the 80lb upgrade). Also, the Revolution is a bench-style machine whereas the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE is an upright model. For more information about these two machines, please visit www.bowflex.com or call our Sales Department at (800) 952-7205.

            1 answer

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

The Bowfex Xtreme 2 SE is designed to help strengthen and tone your body. With proper diet and exercise you should see results, but results may vary. If you are already in fairly good shape you may not see as great a change as someone who has never worked out before. Because your experience is subjective, you may want to consult your physician prior to starting any exercise regimen.

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

Hi Marge! The Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE comes in 5 boxes and is delivered via FedEx ground delivery. Signatures are not required for delivery to take place. Assembly does require at least two people for some of the steps. To get an idea of the amount of assembly involved, I recommend reviewing the assembly manual for this machine. I've attached the link to this manual below. In home assembly for this unit is available throughout the continental United States, and the cost for this service is $299 + tax (if applicable).

              A:

Hi Mike! Our machines are designed for use by person's averaging approximately 5'5" - 6', give or take a few inches in either direction. If needed to accommodate your height and longer armspan, you can adjust the placement of the slilder pulleys on the central crosspiece. In the event you need additional length on any of the cables, you could use the 9" leg extension cables as needed on either the lat or the rod cables.

            Asked on 6/27/2014 by Aron

            1 answer

            • CUSTOMER CARE

              A:

The no change cable pulley system refers to how the user doesn't need to remove the cables from one set of pulleys and install them on another in order to do a different exercise. The six pulley positions referred to in the owner's manual indicate which set of pulleys are being used to perform a specific exercise. At the back of the owner's manual beginning on page 22 are a list of all the exercises that can be performed on this machine, including photos of each exercise and a brief description of how to perform that exercise. Please see attached manual for reference.

              A:

The height of the machine is 6'11'. We recommend a couple inches about this for adequate clearance.

              A:

This is a great question! The power rods do not have a life expectancy. If the rods are taken care of and strapped up after each use, they can last a very long time. We also have a rod rejuvenator that will help with keeping the resistance like new.
