What an amazing machine! I am a permanently disabled combat veteran with multiple injuries throughout my entire body. My body weight was getting out of control and my muscle build was deteriorating at an alarming rate. Between all the medications and the constant pain, I was spiraling down the rabbit hole. I got myself together and made a pact with my wife to not "give up" on our bodies just yet. I'm glad to say it's working! My weight is going down and my muscle structure is coming back to the form it was before I was injured! My wife is looking incredible and is now wearing clothes she hasn't worn in 7 years! My son is now joining in for a piece of the action as he is aspiring to be a soldier later this year. Thank you bowflex, they told me I was permanently disabled, you helped me become Enabled!

I wish I would have waited and gotten the Revolution Gym. I didn't realize how much space this really was going to take up. The constant changing of removing the seat or changing postitions of hand grips or the tension clamps between excercises gets annoying.

I use this gym 3 days on 1 day off. I do feel a slight difference so I am not entirely dissatisfied with it. I bought it for my son and he likes it. I am going to purchase more tension rods to see if that helps more with the workout feel.

This machine is definitely the best for strength training. I have a medical condition which causes muscle weakness and working out is the only way I can re-strengthen my body. The Xtreme 2 helps me accomplish this and has improved my overall health.

Comments about Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym:

I owned a bowflex about 15 years ago, power pro or something like that. It had the long seat for rowing and no overhead pulleys. I loved that machine but had to give it up to clear out a bedroom. Fast forward to me at age 58, 60 lbs overweight and in terrible shape. The Extreme SE 2 is a great machine and works out everything that I need to work out. It is so much easier to use than the old one (that I gave to my son who still uses it). I work out 3 days a week and after only 3 weeks I can already feel my core and arms getting stronger. Thank you Bowflex, by the time I reach 60 my goal is to be healthier and in better shape than I was at 40, with your help I'll get there for sure!

Comments about Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym:

What an ingenious design! The machine is well built and solid, and changing settings for different exercises is relatively easy and quick. The more I use the machine, the better I like it!

Documentation, on the other hand leaves a LOT to be desired. The pictures and instructions in the Owner's Manual don't match the machine that I purchased. There are duplicate entries. The Seated Forearm Lateral Shoulder Raise states "Remove Seat and Leg Extension", but the model is definitely seated on something. The platform on my version does not match the platform shown in most of the pictures.

The parts list and Assembly Manual don't match in critical areas. The people who complained about assembly time made some valid points. I have assembled a lot of things over the last 40 years, and this isn't the worst example I have seen, but it could definitely be improved.

We love our new Bowflex Extreme 2 SE. I have belonged to gyms in the past but always found it difficult consistently to get there. We purchased the Bowflex because we use it on the second floor of our home and it's lighter than a typical weight stack machine and now we have a gym in our own home. Exercises for all major muscles groups are provided. Takes a little time to assemble but if you follow the directions it all comes together. Highly recommended.

It's a good home gym, I love the first on and it had some benefits of its know. I wish you can fold this one like the old one. That's not a bad thing tho it make the bowflex stronger. I like that it has locking parts so if some how a kids gets on it the part only move a few niches which again is not bad.

Comments about Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym:

At 6'4" tall and my wife at 5'5" tall, the Xtreme 2SE is exceptionally easy to use and the transition for all exercises between the both of us is very simple. The unit was easier to assemble than I anticipated and all the parts, hardware and accessories were clearly marked making each assembly step a breeze, even for the most novice mechanic.
My only suggestion at this time: add a preliminary note in the assembly instructions about assembling the rod box. If you've purchased the 300lb and 400lb upgrades you will want to assemble these to the main rod box, prior to attaching to the main frame base, especially since the 400lb upgrade requires you to remove screws in the base and install longer screws for the final assembly of the 400lb upgrade rod box.

Comments about Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE Home Gym:

Leg extension (lower part) is not adjustable which can be a problem...would like to see this addressed and corrected. Had some issues with the product missing parts and parts damaged in shipping, customer service corrected everything and were very helpful and professional. Would like to see a footbar that goes across the base of the squat plate for rowing...Adjustable ankle grips/straps would be useful as well for leg pulls exercises...this is different than a traditional weight station in that the rod weights are not the same as plate weights, but the system is smooth and easy on the joints. This is a great system for the average athlete looking for strength training, but probably not recommended for the very heavy lifters.

We are thinking it is time to look around for an upgrade. However, it appears the product has really changed from what we are used to using. It looks like you can no longer do the rowing exercises on the sliding seat. Is this true? Is there a video demonstrating this product?

How do I adjust the resistance? I followed the assembly instructions exactly as written but non of my handles or cables will move. Everything is stuck as if there's too much resistance but I have no clue how to decrease or increase the resistance?

Hi Elliott. From your description it sounds like there may be a problem with the cabling on the machine. So that we can properly diagnose the issue and provide a resolution, please call our Customer Care department at 1-800-605-3369 when you can be with the machine to troubleshoot. Our call center hours of operation are 6 am - 5 pm M-F and 7 am - 12 pm on Saturdays PST. We are closed on 1/1/15 for New Year's Day.

Hi Sebastian. Both machines can help you build muscle mass with the right diet. However, for a more traditional-feeling workout, you would probably want the Revolution because it provides a more linear weight resistance while the Xtreme 2 SE uses progressive resistance, with the greatest amount of resistance being when the rods are fully arced.
