5 Minute Garlic Green Beans
Personally, I have always been obsessed with the Garlic Green Beans at most Chinese restaurants. Every time I make this recipe I am reminded of the "sister day" tradition my sister and I had every Sunday back in college. To explain, this was just a day in which we did tons of laundry and got caught up on homework while being overly exhausted from the night before. The actual perk of the day - we always got a ton of Chinese food and the local garlic green beans was always the main draw for us. I would actually make a full meal of just Green Beans. I am sad to think of the money I wasted on these each year as I always felt that I could never recreate the flavors at home. That is then when I realized, like with most food, I was overthinking it. The less you do, the better they are!
So here it is, my recipe for 5 Minute Garlic Green Beans. Sister approved of course!
5 Minute Garlic Green Beans
What you need
- 1lb green beans
- 2 tbsp garlic powder (I don't use fresh garlic as I have found it burns)
- 2 tbsp juice of lemon
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
What you will do
- Place the green beans in a large sauté pan over high heat.
- Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Sauté on high heat for 5 minutes consistently stirring.
- Turn off heat BUT leave your pan on the burner.
- Add the lemon to your pan and stir.
- Now remove from heat and add your 2 tablespoons of butter; toss the green beans in the melted butter.
- Allow to sit for at least 5 minutes until you are ready to serve.
Like I said this is the easiest recipe ever! These green beans are a great side dish, especially as a partner to my Flank Steak recipe.
Now all you have to do, as my daughter would say is "Eat, Eat!"
